Unit 1: Skills for School and Learning

Overarching Mindset and Behavior – M5. Belief in using abilities to their fullest to achieve high-quality results and outcomes

9/3/2024 – U1L1: Computer Safety and Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) – Lead by Mr. Maniscalco

B-LS 5. Apply media and technology skills

9/9/2024 – U1L2: School and the School Counselor: Students will learn some facts about Ms. Dodson and her job as a school counselor.

B-SS 3. Positive relationships with adults to support success

9/16/2024 – U1L3: Differences Add Value: Students will learn that diversity means being different. They will explore how they are the same as others and how they are different.

B-SS 2. Positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with students who are similar to and different from them

9/23/2024 – U1L4: Respect and Personal Space: Students will define respect and personal space. They will practice ways to respect the personal space of others and learn what to say and do if someone is not respecting their personal space.

B-SMS 2. Self-Discipline and Self-Control

9/30/2024 –U1L5: Responsible Learners Focus Attention and Follow Directions: Students will define responsibility. They will learn and practice skills needed to listen and follow directions.

B-LS 8. Engagement in Challenging Coursework

10/7/2024 – No lesson – Short week due to conferences.

10/14/2024 – U1L6: Trustworthiness and Using Self-Talk to Follow School Rules/Expectations: Students will define trustworthiness. They will discuss school rules and why we have them. Strategies to help students follow all rules will be explored.

B-SMS 1. Responsibility for Self and Actions

10/21/2024 – U1L7: Kindness: Students will define kindness. They will discuss ways they can show kindness to others and what they can say and do when others are being unkind.

M 2. Sense of acceptance, respect, support and inclusion for self and others in the school environment

10/28/2024 – U1L8: Engaging in Conversation: Students will express thoughts clearly and kindly in a conversation with others, listen carefully and respond to others with a comment or question, and use conversation do’s and avoid conversation don’ts.
