Rescheduled Community Table Session on the Middle School Spanish Immersion Program Relocation Proposal

The rescheduled virtual community table session will be held on Monday, October 2 at 6 p.m. to discuss the proposal to relocate the Middle School Spanish Immersion Program. As announced earlier today, the2023 Middle School Boundary Process and the Proposal to Relocate the Spanish Immersion Program is being paused until Fall 2024, which is the reason why the previous meeting was postponed as staff worked on this change.

This pause will provide staff time to address the proposed secondary Academic Programming Pathways. Due to the pause, and if approved by the School Board, this proposal would go into effect at the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Even though the process has been paused, this meeting will provide the Spanish Immersion community with the opportunity to directly engage with staff to learn more about the proposal, provide feedback, and share concerns about the proposal. In addition, Dual Language Immersion Coordinator Wendy Bermúdez will participate in the meeting to answer specific Spanish Immersion Program questions.

All the feedback received on the proposal is being reviewed by staff and will be used to make improvements to the updated proposal that will be shared with the community next fall.
