Why Volunteer?

A Little Means a Lot:  Getting Involved as a Key parent!

Parents and teachers working together as a team make Key School – and the Key PTA – successful at fostering a productive and cohesive community that supports many aspects of student life.

This year, we are asking that you pledge to contribute a small number of hours over the course of the entire year (although you can continue to volunteer as many hours as you would like).  If we can get every Key Elementary parent to commit just two hours over the next ten months to helping out this school year, we can do amazing things for our kids and our school.

Why should you volunteer with the Key PTA?

  1.  Your child benefits.  When parents get connected to the school, children do better. Research shows children whose parents are involved perform markedly better on all kinds of vital school measures.
  2. We pledge to honor your time constraints. If you’re reluctant to participate because you’re afraid you’ll get pulled into a black hole of never-ending time commitment, we commit that won’t happen at Key.  There are many ways to get involved in various PTA activities and committees, with flexible commitments ranging from 30 minutes to a few hours or more. And we won’t push you to commit more than you want to or are able to.
  3. Your skills and interests are needed.  Are you great at putting on a party? Do you enjoy working outdoors? Or is art your passion? No matter your interest or talent, we can use it to make Key an exciting and diverse place to learn.

Whether you volunteer to help with the Book Fair, accompany a class on a field trip, help plan a social event, obtain donations for the auction or plant flowers in the Key schoolyard, your involvement at Key has an invaluable impact.

Together, we can make a huge difference!
