Our Counselors

Laurie Dodson

Salutations!  I am the full-time professional school counselor at Key School.  I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Special and Elementary Education and a Masters of Education in School Counseling.  I am licensed by the state of Virginia as a school counselor and a teacher, and I have my National Board Certification in School Counseling.  Prior to coming to Key School, I taught students in special education in Florida, Utah, and Delaware.

When I am not at Key School I enjoy spending time with my own children.  I also enjoy hanging out with my dog, Bailey, reading, traveling, watching football (Go Steelers!), and visiting my family in Pennsylvania.

Please don’t hesitate to e-mail me at laurie.dodson@apsva.us if you need to reach me.   I am looking forward to working together in our mutual goal of raising competent, healthy, and successful children.

Sandy Small

Greetings! I am Key School’s part-time School Counselor and I am at Key on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I received my undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Oswego and master’s degrees from New York University (French Literature), Long Island University (Bilingual/Bicultural Education), and George Mason University (Counseling). I have been a school counselor for ten years and this is my third year at Key School.  Prior to being a school counselor I was an ESOL teacher and an Air Force officer. I am bilingual (Spanish-English).  I was born and raised in the Republic of Panama.   When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my son, and our dog.  I also enjoy reading and spending time with my close friends.  I look forward to a new and exciting year as part of the Key School Community. Please contact me at Sandra.small@apsva.us.
