Salutations! I am one of the full-time professional school counselors at Key School, working with students in kindergarten, 1st, and 5th grades. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Special and Elementary Education and a Masters of Education in School Counseling. I am licensed by the state of Virginia as a school counselor and a teacher, and I have my National Board Certification in School Counseling. I am a member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the Virginia School Counselor Association (VSCA). I possess ASCA specialization trainings in the areas of Bully Prevention, Grief and Loss, and Trauma and Crisis. Prior to coming to Key School, I taught students in special education in Florida, Utah, and Delaware.
For the 2020-21 school year, I am at Key on Tuesdays and Fridays. My office, room 222, is currently not open for meetings. I am meeting with students, staff and parents virtually in Teams by appointment only. Emails or Canvas notes are the best ways to contact me.
When I am not at Key School I enjoy spending time with my own children. I also enjoy hanging out with our family pets, reading, traveling, watching football and hockey (Go Pittsburgh!), and visiting my family in Pennsylvania.
I look forward to working together in our mutual goal of raising competent, healthy, and successful children.

Hola! I’m Marisol Roca, a full-time school counselor at Escuela Key.
This is my second year as a school counselor. Prior to Key, I did my internship at Kenmore Middle School and my practicum at Randolph Elementary School. I earned my bachelors of arts in Psychology and master’s in school counseling from Marymount University. I am a member of both the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and Virginia School Counselor Association (VSCA). Tambien hablo espanol! When I’m not at Key, I like to spend time with my family, friends, and my dog Mia. I also really enjoy doing yoga and hope to become a yoga teacher in the near future.
I’m so excited to be a part of the Key community! I will be working with grades VPI, 1, 2, and 3. As the counselor, I will work with the teachers, administration, and student services team to help our students grow and achieve success. I will be doing classroom lessons on topics such as character development, empathy, managing strong emotions, problem solving, bullying, and career development. I will also run small groups throughout the year during lunch periods, topics vary for grade level. My normal working hours are Monday- Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. If you would like to speak to me, please feel free to call or email for an appointment. Due to confidentiality, I prefer to speak to parents/guardians by phone or in person. I look forward to meeting and working with all our students and families.
